Arowana Keeping & Breeding in Aquarium: November 2013

I feel Arowana is very close to Trout....This an insectivorous fishes.....

Posting today "I feel the Arowana close to Trout (?)".

Please find the following picture are Landlocked Variety Salmon (Trout) Species.

They are an Insectivorous fishes and i feel very close to Arowana even face/shape.

English Name : Whitespotted char

Scientific Name : Salvelinus leucomaenis

English Name : Land-locked trout

Scientific Name : Oncorhynchus masou maso (Brevoort)

English Name : Arctic Char

Scientific Name : Salvelinus alpinus
This is most close to AROWANA i feel, it's not getting die after spawning and
life span is almost 40 years same as the Arowana.

Eggs hatched Salmon (Trout) Species has yolk sac.

The Fry are ready to start eating own, but it's mostly floating the insect's.

Those species really need clean fresh water and eating mostly the insect's.
It's really wrong, feed to them beef or chicken heart/meat....i believe.

The fishes getting lack of mineral/vitamins/calcium from fresh clean water
as you know.
We have to consider "They are Insect Eater Species", they only some time
eating other kind of foods like flog / fish / shrimp.

They never getting slim shape, during feed to them small amount of insects.
In my case the target length of arowana body is 5 years to be get over 50cm (20inch)
and i never making fat body.
So, really i need to feed insect's and i making them always hungry.

Please don't believe getting fat body shape, when feed insects.
The key point of keeping arowana is "Not feed to them too much".

Recommended Filter for AROWANA

Today , it is a post about recommended filter for AROWANA.

I do not use the filter expression of the overflow filter in my home .
This is because it will suck the all of wastage and
even feeder floating on top.
Also I have to consider visitor in my house (friends of my kids.)

About capacity of the recommended filter:
First, referring to the wastewater treatment plant of human wastage,
consider filter of how much is needed?
Tank volume required to process 24 hours a wastage
single human is need about 300L.
The weight of a human Assume about 50kg.
The treatment tank is about six times the weight of need.
It is definitely enough if there is a treatment tank of 24L's for
young arowana of 4kg.
The filter media contens, shall 60-70% of the chamber volume..
Also minimum circulation of the water has need more than 6times per hour.
(But the filter size shall depend on your tank volume
also feeding amount actually.... it's only general talk.)

In My Case:
Remove every day such as wastage of fish, and we are also changing water
at least 30% everyday.
There also be the change water twice a day Sort 60% sometime in Hanoi case .

Since I have been in charge of the Mechanical and Electrical system
in general construction company, is in charge of the management
waste water treatment plant of course .

I do not think so required PH adjust in aquarium,
denitration and the removal of suspended solids in water,
what we need most in the aquarium .
Is it need PH adjust for arowana tank?
I do not think so....
If you charge to fresh tap water, which follow national standards water quality
it's might PH6~8 any country. (pH 8is too high.....may be...he he he...)
The pH value shall getting lower value when water passing the filter media, .

I believe the new water we needed more than anything else
in the aquarium for arowana .

This is my filter pressurize pond filter 50L x 2units with UV light.

I always using black water & "Natto", when after cleaning filter.
This is because make short period of the start up filter by
increasing bacteria "Natto" and protection of the fish skin by black water,
during the period of discharge clear water from filter (few days).

For sizing of the filter, we use which can be circulated water more than
10 times per hour for aquarium water actually.

I've been keeping arowana because I'm really happy
I could be maintenance those equipment and change water everyday.

In My House Up-Date Arowana Tank (November, 2013)

I shall up-date in my house lower tank as following.

My big female and golden head blue base today.
I post following picture, cause could not be understand differential size of
my big female arowana, may be.
The upper one is golden head blue base and lower one is 63cm "Premium high gold Cross back" Quan Hu
according to certificate paper, but it's i think only "High Back Golden" arowana by "Quan Hu".

It's not so beautiful arowana compare to upper tank.

The contents of Arowana are around 35cm Super Red, 45cm Cross Back Golden
and 63cm Female High Back Golden....Sorry, not so beautiful my lower tank fishes.

Super Red Arowana in My House (2) Elkind Brothers : 我が家の紅龍です(2)。エルキンド兄弟。

これが、2月9日に投稿したエルキンド兄弟です。
まるで双子の様に育っています。。。
比較的赤くなるのに時間が掛かる魚ですので、気長に様子を見て行こうと思います。

2匹揃って、上がフラッシュ無し、下がフラッシュ有りです。

上の写真を撮り終わって確認したとき、ガラスに映ったのかと思うほど
全く同じに見えました。

兄弟の左向き (上が一応兄、下が一応弟という事にします。)
体型は購入時にイメージしていた通りになってきました。

兄は、肩口が大きく盛り上がりそうです。鰭もパッと開いて堂々とした風貌です。

こっちは、弟(妹？) 比較的こじんまりと収まっています。発色も少し遅れ気味です。

兄弟の右向き (同じく上が兄、下が弟。)

今回は、以上で全ての我が家の紅龍たちの紹介を終ります。

ビデオのアップ、当地では時間が掛かりますので写真とさせて頂きました。

ハノイに帰り次第ダラダラとまたアップしますね。

Super Red Arowana in My House : 我が家の紅龍です。

我が家の紅龍達の紹介です。
嫁に ”どうして家には赤いのが居ないの？” と言われ一念発起して購入した
魚達です。

ニワンレッドです。
昨年10月の輸入直後の13~14cmの魚をを購入し、1月5日に投稿しているニワンです。
真っ赤になる魚ではありませんが、お腹も赤くて良い魚だと思います。
サイズは35cmです。
